Santa Teresa Spirit
Located on the southwestern corner of the Nicoya Peninsula, Santa Teresa is the spot for tasty waves, eclectic noms, and babes in board shorts. Surfing is life here. There are world class waves all year round and a warmth of spirit and climate that truly embodies endless summer. Not to mention: killer sunsets, the most delicious fruit + veggie "batidos", live DJ sets at playa lounges, and of course the howler monkeys constantly letting you know who's boss. We could have easily stayed for months...
You know that feeling. The second your feet hit the ground and you swallow that first breath, everything feels right. It's impossible to describe how you know and why you feel it. You just do. That was Santa Teresa for me. A parallel spirit.
After road tripping all over Costa Rica the week before, we arrived in Santa Teresa eager to settle into a routine and shred some gnar. (Well, attempt anyway). It went something like: Wakeup. Surf. Breakfast. Surf. Smoothie. Chill. Sunset Surf. Eat. Cerveza. Sleep. Repeat. Amazingly, the "surfistas" here - unlike those in, ehem, California - were more than happy to share the breaks and cheer us on.
Not only did we feel totally at home on the ocean, but also in our adorable "Casa Bambú" cabina. Our host with the most, Jefry, (a friend of my friend Sara's) is the guy to know in Santa Teresa. He hooked us up with boards, delicious Casique cocktails, and a good dose of swagger-by-association.
Until next time, Santa Teresa, you beautiful gem.
